Rust . . .

Christian Nevell Bovee
(click on picture to read the sign - I really was not at a junk yard . . .)

Negligence is the rust of the soul, that corrodes through all her best resolves
Owen Felltham

“Cheerfulness removes the rust from the mind, lubricates our inward machinery, and enables us to do our work with fewer creaks and ;groans. If people were universally cheerful, probably there wouldn't be half the quarreling or a tenth part of the wickedness”

“We meet on the broad pathway of good faith and good will; no advantage shall be taken on either side, but all shall be openness and love. I will not call you children, -- for parents sometimes chide their children too severely; nor brothers only, -- for brothers differ. The friendship between me and you I will not compare to a chain; for that the rains might rust, or the falling tree might break. We are the same as if one man's body were to be divided into two parts, we are all one flesh and blood.”
William Penn

This is such a wonderfully creative post, Lailani! I love the quotes you selected to go with your fabulous photos! And how fascinating that they chose not to remove the vehicles due to concerns about disturbing ecosystems...I thoroughly enjoyed this! Love, Janine XO

I love rust as a photographic subject! These are great images! How cool that the vehicles have become part of the ecology.

My husband and I took a camping trip to Osage Hills State Park in northeast Oklahoma a couple of years ago. These images could have been taken there.

Wow! I wonder how such a sign would go over in some of the "redneck" areas I've seen! Unusual concept!
